In Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland our e-scooters and e-bike form an essential component of the cities transport network. We have a large commuter base and have a strong focus on connecting with the public transport network for intermodal journeys.
Leisure
In Whangārei, we are supporting people getting around the city in a safe and sustainable way. Our scooters are often used to see the sights of city and explore it's cultural heritage supporting the Council's active and sustainable transport goals.
The council has been working closely with the team from Beam to ensure that there are clear guidelines and processes in place for use, and public and scooter user safety. Where available in cities, our AI powered Pedestrian Shield technology enables us to control vehicle speed based on the riding surface (i.e. roads vs footpaths), and slow the vehicle when pedestrians are detected.
