[29 August 2022] We are thrilled to announce that Beam is now available to the EduCity Iskandar community! EduCity Iskandar is Asia’s first multi-campus education city with 305-acres of universities, higher education institutions, research & development centers, as well as recreational facilities. It’s uniqueness and the first of its kind in Asia positions Beam as a well suited partner offering best-in-Asia shared escooter services for the faculty members and students.
Wherever we operate, we strive to develop our operations in partnership with the local community. Micromobility must serve the needs of not only the people who use our service, but the people who don't. Only then will it have a sustainable future.
This can’t be more true in a space like a university campus where moving from one faculty to another can be financially burdensome if you’re a student as car & fuel prices continue to increase. Not to mention, parking is quite limited on all campuses. Beam offers a sustainable and affordable mode of transportation, whilst allowing students learning opportunities about micromobility operations.
“The beauty of micromobility is its endless applications. People often see us as a public transport enhancer, but we also play a part in providing affordable and accessible transportation to communities that need it most - for example, students who are not likely to be income-earning and not able to afford cars. We also solve the issue of limited car park spaces within a large campus like EduCity Iskandar” comments Justin Tiew, General Manager of Beam Mobility Malaysia.
It's also a Beam Mobility milestone, as our first footprint into the Southern Region of Peninsular Malaysia. We are working towards expanding our footprint throughout the cities of Iskandar Puteri and Johor Bahru and can’t wait for Beam to be at your doorstep!
“We see a lot of potential collaboration in the southern state of Johor. It is a key economic and tourist state for Malaysia, with key developments such as Legoland Malaysia, Puteri Harbor, and Sunway Iskandar bringing in local and foreign visitors. We will be working towards making escooters available to all communities within Iskandar Puteri” added Justin Tiew.
